So, I'm hosting Christmas this year. My family will be staying a few days with us in our tiny little home. I really want to make Christmas dinner something special. I've hosted Christmas dinner before but have always stuck to the basics. Pretty much a repeat of Thanksgiving.
I'm wondering, this year, about doing something a little non-traditional. We're having a HUGE Thanksgiving with my folks this year and we all eat turkey throughout the year when they go on sale. So, doing another turkey dinner just doesn't hold any appeal to me right now.
I'm trying to think through what I could fix, though. I was thinking about maybe some really GOOD steaks. Something we wouldn't normally buy. Or maybe a crusted beef tenderloin. I could always throw a turkey breast in the oven "just in case." I don't mind getting adventurous. I'm a decent cook and following a recipe is not a problem.
We always do a whole bunch of appetizers on Christmas Eve. And that is so fun. I wouldn't change that. I am looking for some new things to fix this year. I might add cheese and chocolate fondue, though. Oh, YUM!
One thing I know, I LOVE the planning! I'll have a notebook full of ideas and a million post-its stuck to my recipe books!
